Loss in dB indicates the extra losses due to the different distance earth-moon,

The background
TEMPeratue indicates the losses caused by the
noise from objects behind/near the moon. Coldest value on 432 is 15K and when the moon is in front
of our galactical centre this value can be up to 200K. This can cause up to 8dB
extra losses on RX at a good station.
